March 26, 2021

Yes we made it through another week!  I feel certain that there are more hours in a workday than in a whole weekend.

I may not love working, but I recognize that I should be grateful because I am blessed to be one of the fortunate people who has kept her job during the last year.  There are many things that I am grateful for such as my family, my home, my health.

And I’m grateful to have made it through another good day of not having a stranger vaccinate me for or a virus with a 99% + survival rate using an experimental mRNA vaccine that was quickly concocted to combat a Fauci funded a bat coronavirus project in Wuhan, China.

There.  I said it.

I’m also grateful for friends that will get together for a spur of the moment St. Patrick’s day party.  The food was great, if I do say so myself

and one dish was particularly cute

Favorite # ONE

A Rainbow

made of fruitwith a pot of gold at the end.

In addition to my artistic fruit platter, I made Reuben sliders.  With a corned beef brisket in the refrigerator, I needed to come up with a recipe to get this beef eaten.  So I made

Favorite # TWO

Reuben Sliders

It appears that this is primarily a food post.

Ingredients

  • 12 potato rolls
  • several ounces shredded corned beef
  • 1 package of baby Swiss cheese
  • shredded cabbage/Cole slaw
  • Russian Dressing ( I use the dressing from this recipe)
  • 2 Tbsp melted butter

Directions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F
  • Cut the rolls in half separating the top and bottom.
  • Place the bottoms of the rolls in a 9×13 pan (spray with PAM for easy removal).
  • Spread dressing on rolls. Top with a layer of cheese, Cole slaw, corned beef and another layer of cheese.
  • Top with the other half of the rolls and brush tops with the butter mixture.
  • Bake  25-30 minutes or until the cheese has melted and the tops are lightly browned.
  • Enjoy!

Although I didn’t try one myself, I understand they were very good.  I’ll have to make them again next year.

Other than the rainbow fruit platter and Reuben sliders, everything else was green.  Including these

Favorite # THREE

I may have eaten the whole bag of green pea snacks by myself.

We asked our friends to come to our St. Patrick’s Day event dressed in green.  Some of them went all out.

Guess what today is???

Its Friday!

Friday Printmeggin Sticker by megan motown

It has been a short week for me because I used a vacation day on Monday.  Among my errands spending a couple of hours with the dentist and her friends.  One of these days I will share my dental ventures with you.  My dentist appointment was in the afternoon, but in the morning LB decided we needed to do something other than the norm.  He suggested we go OUT for breakfast.  Now I have a new place to add to my favorites…

Favorite # ONE

Another Broken Egg Café

LB ordered the crab cakes Benedict and I ordered the salmon eggs Benedict.  Both came with a bucket of grits.  And it was all delicious!

It is customary for us to take pictures of what we’ve ordered

and of each other after brunch we took a trip to Target where LB found thisisn’t he cute?

Favorite # TWO

St. Patrick’s Day

We drove all the way to Fernandina to attend the only party LB could find

and he wore his new jacket.

I didn’t dress up like I normally do…

But this fella dressed to the nines

Favorite # THREE

A Sharp Dressed Leprechaun

He was quite entertaining.

LB and I have always enjoyed finding a St. Patrick’s Day party to attend.  It is one of the highlights of the month of March.  Another annual March event is putting out new mulch in the front yard.  I typically buy the brown mulch from Wal-Mart.  This year we tried something new from COSTCO.

Favorite # FOUR

Rubber Mulch

It costs a bit more, but it is supposed to maintain color longer and not float away.  The yard maintenance season has begun!

Which brings me to my

I am hoping that next week will begin as nicely as this one began.

It started with…

When LB asks me “would you like to get out of the house today?” or “what would you like to do today?” I will invariably respond with “Go Shopping!  And go out to dinner for Mexican!”

On Sunday we did both!It must seem like I am not very adventurous.

I’m not.

Happy Blogiversary!

So it has now been five years.  Not much improvement, but a lot has changed.

My first post The Journey Begins was published on March 10, 2017.  I was a new Glammy and determined to succeed in this new role.  I was also obsessed with clothes/fashion.  The obsession with clothes goes way back.

As of March 10, 2021, I am a Glammy x2 and only slightly obsessed with clothes/fashion.  Most of my attention is focused on what is going on in the world.  I’m praying every day that God will let the darkness be brought to light.  It isn’t looking good for the U.S. and I am concerned about the impact it is going to have on the little girls who call me Glammy.  We’ll keep hoping and praying.

Not only is March 10th my Blogiversary, it is also the day my Mema Duck was born.

I dedicated this previous blog post to her. She would have been 95 today, I think.

Happy Birthday in Heaven Mema!

Happy Friday!

https://i0.wp.com/prettyis.me/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/pastelfireworksgiphy.gif?ssl=1

This is the first week of March 2021.  I can’t believe how time flies.  It has been one year since the start of the plandemic.  I’m hoping this month will bring good news and 2021 will begin looking better than 2020.

Hope Hope Hope

This week my favorites begin with sweet memories…

Favorite # ONE

Happy Birthday Daddy

He would have been 75 years old on March 1st.He was and is precious.

I didn’t publish a new blog post this year, but I’ve written several posts celebrating Daddy.  Last year I published this post.

If you haven’t read it yet, I think it is worth a read.

My nephew Clay was remembering some of the record albums and songs that Daddy enjoyed.  He started a chat with the family on Monday March 1st to share some memories.

Favorite # TWO

Family Chat

There were several more and I remember all of them.  Except Nancy and Lee.

As I was listening to some of my Daddy’s records and favorite songs, I thought I would share another version of one that I discovered.  After I was listening to Gentle On My Mind I noticed another version by The Band Perry

It wouldn’t be right if I didn’t say something about food in my post today.  I mentioned my sushi bowl last week in this post.  This week I did one better…

Favorite # FOUR

Fajita Bowl

Peppers, onions, pintos and rice… low cal and yummy!

Favorite # FIVE

Dr. Seuss

This belonged to either Stephanie or Amanda.  It looks like Amanda started to write her name at the bottom,  Richard espcially loved one of the books in this collection:  Green Eggs and Ham.  He eventually learned to recite it as I read it to him.  I’m glad I held onto these books.  You never know when the other Dr. Seuss books may offend someone to the point that they eliminate them all.

HEY EVERYBODY!

What a WEEK it has been!

Do Not be alarmed by the following images.

They will not hurt you.

My website went down on Wednesday and again on Thursday.

If you tried to check out my blog on Wednesday, you may have seen this.

I called Bluehost and they told me WordPress had updated something or other and I would need to change my DNS.  For awhile everything was okay.

The next day I got this…

So I called Bluehost again and was told my DNS IP was wrong.

SMH.

I think we’re all straight now.

But, alas, there was more technological trouble to come…

My company PC has been giving me trouble.  Yesterday it altogether gave up the ghost.  I had to go to Fleming Island to exchange it for a new one.

It was quite strange being in that building.  At one time it was [in my opinion] overcrowded.  While I was there, I saw only three people.  Most of the lights were out and it was eerily quiet.  Very strange.  It has been almost a year since I packed up to start working from home.  I can honestly say that I don’t miss it!

Working from Home!

Clearly I had to start with that!

I posted often last spring and summer about how I like working from home, starting with the post

that you can read about here and another here.

Recently I learned about a recipe for a vegan

Sushi Bowl

Since I don’t like raw fish, I thought this may be something I would like.  And who wouldn’t?  It is a bowl of jasmine rice topped with cucumber, carrots, edamame, avocado, and a sesame seed sprinkle (which I thought was a nice touch).  I didn’t follow a specific recipe, but a good one can be found here.  That recipe includes a few sauces and dressings as well.  To my sushi bowl I added some soy sauce and since I had no chopsticks, I ate it with a fork.

Favorite # FOUR

Red Lentil Chili

I discovered the recipe on The Stingy Vegan’s website here.

Since Thursday was National Chili Day I posted the recipe so I would be able to refer back and make it again.

This is turning into a food blog.

Lifelong Friends

There was a time when LB was a BellSouth phone tech and some of the gentlemen that started out as his co-workers became his good friends.  Many of those same good friends have remained friends for the past 30+ years.

This isn’t a typical Friday favorite, and it doesn’t make me happy to report, but it is important to remember a dear friend that LB said goodbye to this week.  David Gardner was a good friend to LB and a member of the Three Musketeers.

David will be missed.

Valentine’s Day Presents~

It has been almost a year since our world drastically changed.  Last year on Valentine’s Day, I was working several miles away from my home… commuting daily and complaining the whole way.  These days I seldom leave the house except for those rare occasions when we go out to dinner.

On Sunday LB and I went to

Super Bowl Sunday

I don’t care a whole lot about football, but LB has a couple of friends who come over to watch the super bowl game with us every year.  This year we had a great time catching up and EATING.  I enjoyed seeing them!

In addition to that, I did notice that Tom Brady didn’t don a mask when he arrived at the stadium.  He didn’t wear a mask at all.  He also took some flack about not wearing a mask.

Is Tom Brady a Superhero?

The liberals are unhappy.

So YES!

~

I recently completed my 21 day Daniel fast which inspired me to look for ways to make vegetables taste better.  One of my favorites is a recipe that I put together using several other recipes I found.

Favorite # TWO

Cheese Sauce

with no cheese

Vegan Cheese Sauce

Ingredients:

  • 2 Yukon gold potatoes
  • 2  diced carrots
  • 10 oz. frozen cauliflower or butternut squash
  • 1/4 cup nutritional yeast
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1 ¼ tsp lemon juice
  • water

Instructions:

Boil potatoes and carrots together in a pot until fork tender.  Reserve the water to add back into the cheese sauce.

Add all ingredients to a high-speed blender, along with some of the reserved water and blend. Add more of the reserved water to thin to desired consistency.

I’ll be making another batch this week!

Favorite # THREE

Hair

My hair.  I  am happy because I got my trim and color this week.

I’m not including the photo.

Favorite # FOUR

UHaul

What would we do without UHaul America?  If all you have is a compact car, have no fear… you can rent a UHaul truck for the day.  Anyone can do it.  This week my daughter rented one and on Wednesday night it was loaded with the contents of her house, to move to her new house.  I was able to take Thursday afternoon off to help unload it.  I felt like I worked hard.  My fitbit showed 17, 499 steps and the end of the move.  But I didn’t do nearly as much as my nephew Clay.

What a sweetheart he is.  One in a million!

Clay is a great guy!

Which leads me to my

Welcome!

I’m Kim… and I love Pretty clothes, Pretty décor, Pretty days, and Pretty much anything that involves family and fun.  Growing up, My Mama told me more than once “Pretty is as Pretty does” …encouraging me to focus on the inner pretty girl, as she is the one that matters most.

Here on my blog, I’m sharing what I see as pretty.  Whether it be an outfit, an experience, an event, a memory or thought.  Hopefully I’ll share something that will be interesting, useful, or make you smile along the way.
