Topped with mozzarella, Parmesan, black olives, green olives, bell pepper, onion, crushed red pepper, and pepperoni or bacon.

LB loves Friday night pizza!

Landscape Projects

I love it!

sticker

What can I say?

It is an attempt to combat a flooding problem that has been ongoing since the neighbor to the north filled in his pond.  And as if that wasn’t enough, he brought in two feet of dirt.  The rest of us have been left to deal with this as each sees fit.

I’m going to stay positive and hope that it helps.

That said…

The first Saturday of each month at the Cummer Museum is FREE FOR ALL, thanks to the generous support of        J. Wayne and Delores Barr Weaver. Guests can enjoy free admission, as well as art-making activities for all ages, live music, and a Docent-led tour at 2 p.m (source).

An Angry Alpaca

Today I came across this post on social media by April:

It is without fail that when I see an alpaca or lama pictured on anything, it will make me smile.

This one made me laugh out loud.

Thanks April!

Today is March 1st and it is a special day to me.

My Daddy would’ve been 73 years old.

I’ve written about him often.  Some of those posts can be read here, here, and here.

Thank you for taking time out of your day to stop by my blog.

Dear Daddy

March 1, 2019

Today would have been your 73rd birthday.  Not a day goes by that I don’t think about you.

A lot has happened since you’ve been gone.

Sydney was born shortly after you left.  You didn’t get to meet her, but I know you would love her.  She looks so much like Gina.

Stephanie, Amanda, Richard, Kyle, Clay, and Dillon have all graduated from high-school.  Some have gone on to graduate from college…with the highest distinction.

~

All your grandsons are very protective.

Clay has been true to his word.  He takes good care of his Mema.  He has a manner about him that is remarkably familiar.  I always think of you when I see him.

Clay married Chynna; now they have a little boy and two little girls.

Richard had a hard time after you left; we spent many nights consoling him.  He had just turned 11.

You would be so proud of him today.

He is a preacher.  Richard married Emily… and now they have two little girls.

Lydia is Richard’s oldest;  although she doesn’t look like me, if you spent time with her, she would remind you of me when I was a little girl [according to Mama].Can you believe I’m a Glammy???

You might find it hard to believe, but all your grandchildren remember you vividly;  And your great-grandchildren know you from the many photos they’ve seen.

I know you would enjoy seeing photos of them too:

They Are So Sweet

Mama is crazy about them…

you would be too!

~

We’ve met some of your relatives and learned a lot about your heritage in the past 18 years.

Recently Stuart discovered and shared pictures of your great grandfather William VanSickle Cox.

This is what he looked like His nose is familiar.

It appears that he was in the service; something I understand you considered.

Mama told us about that.

We talk about a lot of things in our group text.

Speaking of group text…

When you left us, we weren’t as technologically equipped as we are now.

Today everyone in the family has a personal cell phone and we keep in touch via this group text.

We talk about you often.

I saved this bit of communication from last Memorial Day:

Remembering will sometimes invoke a tearful moment, but will always bring a smile.

Thank you for the memories and for leaving a bit of yourself in each of us.

You would be HAPPY to know that Mama is doing well.

And we are all fine.

We know that we will see you again Daddy; and thank you for showing us The Way.

What’s Up Wednesday

February 27, 2019

WHAT’S UP

is a recap of everything that has been going on this month.

Because it is an immensely important topic, What’s up Wednesday begins with

What we’re eating

This week we’re eating like a Cave Woman

~

What I’m reminiscing about

Today is National Retro Day.

When I reminisce about the good ‘ol days I think about The Brady Bunch, The Bee Gees, Michael Jackson, and the mullet (haircut).

What’s your retro?

~

What I’m loving

I am loving my new dentist Dr. Jessica Proctor and dental hygienist BJ.

My tooth broke at the beginning of the month and it took a couple of trips to get it fixed.  When all was said and done, I had experienced very little discomfort and left the dentist’s office with a plan for the future… It’s a long story, suffice it to say that I’ll be getting braces – not merely for cosmetic purposes.

~

What we’ve been up to

LB decided that he was going to take a course in Project Management.  He suggested that I take one too so we could work on it together.

LB is cut out for Project Management.

Kim is not.

(But I’m hanging in there)

~

What I’ve been working on

In addition  to the Project Management course, I’ve been purging the house of items that no longer spark joy.

LOL!

No I’m not falling prey to the Konmari method, but I do have too much stuff.

If you think you might need any men’s/women’s clothes , shoes, small kitchen appliances, VHS tapes, books, or a four-piece set of vintage luggage [in excellent condition]…

let me know!

~

What I’m excited about

Let me think…

FRIDAY?

Always!

~

What I’m dreading

You would think my answer would be Monday.

Okay it is.

~

What I’m watching/reading

I’m supposed to be reading the PMBOK Guide to Project Management.

I started reading it in early January.

I’ve read one chapter.

~

What I’m listening to

at the moment Hall and Oates You Make My Dreams

~

What I’m wearing

With spring approaching, it is close to the end of the fall/winter wardrobe for this season.

Goodbye fall/winter wardrobe!

~

What I’m doing this weekend

Going to Target to visit my optometrist. It’s time for a new glasses.

~

What I’m looking forward to next month

Thanks to a Merry Christmas gift from Emily and Richard, I’m looking forward to a visit to Alhambra Theater and Dining to see the production of BIG the Musical.

The Only Thing Better

February 16, 2019

…than shopping

Shopping with LB

Saturday was a good day to get out of the house and spend the day at the Town Center with LB.

Once at the Town Center, Old Navy seemed like a good place to start.

It turned out to be a great place to start.

With spring on the horizon, there are many cute spring fashion items at Old Navy… most of them are covered in daisies.

For example:

Mid-Rise Daisy-Print Pixie Full-Length Pants for Women

Relaxed Mid-Rise Everyday Shorts for Women – 3.5 inch inseam

Mid-Rise Printed Pixie Ankle Pants for Women

Printed Ponte-Knit Sheath Dress for Women

Navy Daisy Print

Printed Ponte-Knit Sheath Dress for Women

Red Floral

I was in such as hurry to get out of the dressing room that I forgot to take dressing-room-try-on photos.  However I liked the shorts and the navy/daisy print dress and  I brought both home with me.  That cute little dress will be my first day of spring outfit.  I’m tempted to order the red floral one, but I suppose I should take it easy on the daisies.

LB was interested in was a couple of shirts; he did remember to take try-on photos.

There was the

Slim-Fit Built-In Flex Everyday Shirt for Men

And the green/grey one that he REALLY liked!  You can tell by that smile!

Regular-Fit Built-In Flex Everyday Shirt for Men

So cute!

Apparently he likes green.

Who wouldn’t want flowers and chocolate on Valentine’s Day?

LB always makes sure to let me know that He is My Valentine and I am His!On Valentine’s Day LB sent me a beautiful arrangement of daisies and roses!

In addition to the flowers, LB surprised me with a box of Pecan Delights.

I’ll be hiding these in my closet.

Valentine’s Day

February 14, 2019

Do you remember this scene from the movie You’ve Got Mail…Kathleen Kelly: I love daisies.

Joe Fox: You told me.

Kathleen Kelly: They’re so friendly. Don’t you think daisies are the friendliest flower?

~

When I laid eyes on my Valentine’s Day flowers, my first thought was “daisies are the friendliest flower”.

Thank you LB!

There was an attached card which read…

“You have bewitched me body and soul, and I love, I love, I love you. And wish from this day forth never to be parted from you.  Your LB”.

~

If you are a fan of classics and romantic movies, you recognize that line from Pride and Prejudice.

As I’ve mentioned before, I will watch this 2005 version of that movie just to enjoy that single scene and the lines delivered by Matthew Macfadyen.

Included with the flower arrangement was a “Happy Valentine’s Day” balloon.

Sadly, I lost my balloon.

Apparently it wasn’t tied down well (or at all) in the flower arrangement.  When I leaned into my car to place my arrangement on the floor, the balloon tapped the car door and was floating away before I knew what had happened.  It was a sad moment and I pouted all the way home.

~

LB and I will enjoy dinner and a show at the Alhambra a few times during the year.

Last February we saw Little Shop of Horrors which was, strangely enough, the featured Valentines Day show.  You can read that post here.

This year for Valentine’s Day the Alhambra featured an Elvis impersonator in a sold out show titled Elvis Aloha.

“Elvis” did a great job

The Chef

did an excellent job!

The Tuna Poke Salad was good, the Kahlua Pork was good, the Peanut Butter & Banana Pie was SO good.

The treadmill would be beckoning after this meal.

Thank you for taking time out of your day to stop by my blog.

Welcome!

I’m Kim… and I love Pretty clothes, Pretty décor, Pretty days, and Pretty much anything that involves family and fun.  Growing up, My Mama told me more than once “Pretty is as Pretty does” …encouraging me to focus on the inner pretty girl, as she is the one that matters most.

Here on my blog, I’m sharing what I see as pretty.  Whether it be an outfit, an experience, an event, a memory or thought.  Hopefully I’ll share something that will be interesting, useful, or make you smile along the way.
