HAPPY FRIDAY!

Can you believe it?  Today is the first Friday of fall 2020!

Easy enough… that will be my

Favorite # ONE

FALL

is my favorite season because I love the look of the sky as it begins to change shades with the new season.

I also love my fall vacation.  Due to the whole COVID thing, I’m not quite sure how vacation will play out this year.  I’m pretty sure masks will be involved.  I’m positive that there will be no tasting at Colonial Mustard’s in Highlands, NC.  WHICH IS A BUMMER.  I’m going to be hopeful that it will be mostly normal, and possibly more wonderful than usual.  My sister may get to cat-sit for me this year, because we are going to try to have Mama come along.

Speaking of Mama, this week she asked me to look for something that she needed.  I can’t say what it is, because it is part of a surprise project.  So I started searching, and in doing so began emptying my Lane cedar chest.

All the way to the bottom

I discovered that I may have a hoarding problem.

All This Stuff

Everything came out and a few hours later, everything went back in.  Except for a couple of things that I couldn’t make fit.

Also I found what Mama was looking for 😄

She was in her yard last night, trimming roses, so I walked over to chat for a few minutes.  I noticed that some of her discards might make a pretty bouquet, so she told me to take them.

HAPPY FRIDAY!

I’m so glad we finally got here.

The week started out right because Monday was a holiday and the workweek didn’t begin until Tuesday.  This is always a good thing.  Because, you know what they say about Monday… can’t trust that day.  And with that, my first favorite is obviously

Monday

On Monday I slept late, and pretty much did nothing all day.  On Monday afternoon, LB and I went to Salsas for a Mexican dinner fix.

On Tuesday, I went back to work. SAME OLD SAME OLD for me.

But for Lydia, there was a milestone.  She started school.

There are other items that have not yet arrived, but these are my favorites.

Also I’ve learned that straight, boot cut and flare jeans (as opposed to skinny) are the jeans on trend in 2020, so I needed to begin my search for something new (since my old ones don’t fit anymore).  Recently I have been watching a new fashion stylist on YouTube who provided this information.

That stylist is my

with her “Boujee On A Budget” series, this blogger does exactly what I would do if I had time.  She reveals the spring/fall runway fashions and trends with examples of lower cost styles.  I’ve enjoyed watching her videos.  I’m pretty sure you will enjoy watching too.

ONFinally FRIDAY!

I can do whatever I want for the next two days.  And so can you.

As long as we stay home.

To celebrate the end of the week, I’m going to begin by naming five of my favorites.

Last week, LB and I joined my family on a trip to Orlando to celebrate my sister’s birthday.  I published a blog post about that later than I meant to, but you can read it here.  We shopped all afternoon at Disney Springs and one of my favorite stores there is COACH.  It was there that I found my

This Coach Handbag

I won’t leave without something cute!

Favorite # TWO

On Tuesday, LB and I took a ride to COSTCO to pick up his new glasses.

While we were there, I was browsing through the books for sale and found this…I remember listening to my 2nd grade teacher, Mrs. McKean as she read this to our class.

I was ALL IN!

Chapter 1. Before Breakfast

“Where’s Papa going with that ax?” said Fern to her mother as they were setting the table for breakfast.  “Out to the hoghouse”, replied Mrs. Arable.  “Some pigs were born last night.”

I can’t wait to read it to Lydia!

~

That same Tuesday was National Banana Split Day.  So LB said, “Let’s go to Dreamette to celebrate.”

Favorite # THREE

 DREAMETTE

I told him that I was counting calories and it would not be helpful if I consumed a banana split from Dreamette.  He assured me that we would stop by, purchase one item, have one bite, and throw the rest away…

Are You KIDDING ME???

It was incredibly delicious!

Although it was delicious and obviously we were unable stop ourselves from devouring the entire 12 ounce cup… I was a little disappointed in the presentation.

After all this is what I expected…

I am pretty sure I can do better…

It is the last Friday in July, but still it is a

Favorite # ONE

This is Kathy.

Kathy works with me.

Kathy took this WHOLE week off from work.

Bad Kathy.

I’m just kidding.

Kathy celebrated her birthday on Monday and her anniversary on Wednesday and I hope her time off was wonderful!

She is our team lead and she is VITAL. When she is out of the office, the people who typically drive her crazy begin to panic.  They look for someone on her team to drive crazy.  Madness ensues.

She will be back from her much deserved week of multi-celebrations on Monday and

I AM SO GLAD!

~

Favorite # TWO

This is Darci.

She has been mine for many, many years.  She came with a pink one-piece swimsuit which I cannot find, but I do have her wrap-around skirt, flower, silver shoes, stand, and briefcase filled with fashion magazines.

My Darci is a brunette;  there is also a blonde and a redhead.

Last week, when my family met at Mama’s house, my sister and I began a discussion that involved the many Barbie dolls and other fashion dolls that we’ve had over the years.  I insisted that I had a Tuesday Taylor doll, but I was actually thinking about Darci.

I am sorry Gina and I look forward to making everything right.

~

Favorite # THREE

Tuesday Taylor

I’m not sure how I could have mistaken Darci for Tuesday Taylor.

Favorite # FOUR

Ann Taylor

It is no secret that I love to buy clothes from LOFT, but this week I ventured out and browsed another of Ann Taylor’s websites.  I found this cute little Ruffle Trim Shell in Apricot Zest that I had to have.

Right now it is on sale for $20.

Last week I purchased it for $8.

Ways to Wear It is a great feature of Ann Taylor websites.

Favorite # FIVE

Star Trek

The original series first aired in 1966, just a few months after I was born.  When I was a little girl, back in the 1970s, I remember my Daddy loved to watch Star Trek.  It aired at 5PM each weekday and I can still picture Daddy sitting in his chair laughing at the banter between Captain Kirk and Mr. Spock.  And Bones.

This week LB and I watched the Movie Star Trek the Wrath of Khan.  Later when I was flipping channels I came across the 2009 Star Trek movie featuring Chris Pines as Kirk during the early days of the starship USS Enterprise.  I’ll always be a Star Trek fan.  I never followed the Next Generation, Voyager, or any of the others, but I never tire of the original Star Trek stories.

July 24, 2020

It has been 3 weeks since I published a blog post!  I have drafts that I’ve started and not found the motivation to finish.  Even my Friday Favorites, which is a fairly easy post, has been missing.

I wonder if it is because every day feels like the same day?

Occasionally it is a bit depressing.  There are moments when I know that ‘I’ve got this’ but  sometimes it gets me down.  Typically on Mondays.

But today is Friday and I don’t have to work for TWO days so I’m going to celebrate!  Starting with

Friday Favorites

July 10, 2020

Every Friday I take a look back at the week and share my new finds, foods, funnies, or simply life that has happened through the week that made me smile!

In case you didn’t already know, I call it my Friday Favorites!

This one is pretty random.

Favorite # ONE

History!

This past Saturday we celebrated our country’s independence.  The celebration of the fourth of July is a tradition that goes back to the 18th century and the American Revolution.  It is a commemoration of the adoption of the 1776 Declaration of Independence, a historic document drafted by Thomas Jefferson.

There are times that I don’t have a whole lot to say, so I’ll resort to quoting random historical facts.

Nevertheless, history is a good thing and a subject that I love.

~

In my last post I mentioned that Stephanie and Amanda came by to visit.  They came back again on this weekend and we had a very small July 4th celebration.

Favorite # TWO

That was a fun day!

Later in the week Amazon came by and delivered my

Favorite # THREE

Hair Dryerand Styler

I’m not sure why it is spelled that way on the box.

Amazon calls it the

“Hot Air Brush,Hair Dryer Brush, Professional Hair Dryer & Volumizer 3 in 1 Upgrade Anti-scald Negative Ionic Technology Hair Straightener Brush, Salon Negative Ion Ceramic Electric Blow Dryer”.

I’ve learned that you have to let your hair air dry for awhile before using this little tool.  Otherwise you’ll be spending a long time working with it.

Yep.  I like it.

Keto Biscuits

recipe by Gretchen at FitMomJourney

Keto Biscuits

  • Servings: 12
  • Time: 30 mins
  • Difficulty: easy
  • Print

Ingredients

  • 1 cup + 2 Tbsp. Almond Flour, chilled
  • 2 Tbsp. Cold, Salted Butter
  • 1 tsp. Baking Powder
  • 3/4 cup Cold Egg Whites
  • 1/4 tsp. Salt

Instructions

Chill your almond flour and butter in the fridge for 20 minutes in your food processor’s bowl.

Once chilled, pulse the almond flour and butter in your food processor until the butter has been cut in enough that it forms pea-sized pieces.

Add in the baking powder and salt, pulsing once more to combine.

Gradually add in the egg whites while pulsing the dough, until everything is just combined. Do not over process the dough – don’t worry it will be lumpy, and that’s ok.

Use a cookie scoop to place the biscuits on a parchment paper lined baking sheet, then bake at 400 for 12-14 minutes, until golden brown.

It wasn’t the prettiest biscuit I’ve ever made, but it wins the prize for fewest calories!

Friday Favorites

July 3, 2020

It is the first Friday in July and I AM OFF TODAY!

To start the long weekend right, LB and I went to Panera.  We met with LB’s long time friend Wayne and his sweet wife Laurie.  We always have a great time together when we go out for dinner.  Going out for breakfast was something different, which is good.  Also different was the cold brew and Asiago cheese bagel that I ate for breakfast.  This was not my first experience with a bagel, but it was my first cold brew.  I liked it so much, I’ll call it my

We spent some time walking down memory lane which is my

Favorite # FOUR

There were so many papers from pre-K and Kindergarten.  This one reveals how Amanda imagined Santa to have a black mustache.  There were at least two examples of black mustache Santa in Amanda’s collection.

Amanda S. didn’t know much about Santa but she was pretty good at math!

Stephanie’s collection included a 1989 Christmas gift to MOM that had been forgotten.

Afterward the room was a huge mess… and I had a new project ahead of me.

~

Favorite # FIVE

Rebuilding

Those old toy chests have had the hinges reattached several times through the years.

The broken hinges have been replaced and now these little trunks are going to get a new look!

Let the redesigning begin!

Welcome!

I’m Kim… and I love Pretty clothes, Pretty décor, Pretty days, and Pretty much anything that involves family and fun.  Growing up, My Mama told me more than once “Pretty is as Pretty does” …encouraging me to focus on the inner pretty girl, as she is the one that matters most.

Here on my blog, I’m sharing what I see as pretty.  Whether it be an outfit, an experience, an event, a memory or thought.  Hopefully I’ll share something that will be interesting, useful, or make you smile along the way.
