Friday Favorites

February 2, 2018

It’s Finally Friday again and I am looking forward to another wonderful weekend with my LB.

Today I am celebrating Friday and

Sharing my Favorites

Favorite # ONE

Groundhog Day

it is a celebrated tradition that is based on superstition.

Observed in the U.S. [and Canada] on February 2nd and originating with the Pennsylvania Dutch, it is said that if a groundhog emerges from its burrow on this day sees a shadow due to clear weather, it will retreat to its burrow and winter will persist for six more weeks.  However, if it is cloudy, and no shadow appears, the spring season will arrive early.

Today, the little guy predicted six more weeks of winter…

This, my friend, will NOT STOP fashion bloggers from Spring Fashion trend posting.

Favorite # TWO

Groundhog Day

The Movie

A tale of a weatherman who finds himself mysteriously re-living Groundhog Day over and over again.

It was released in 1993 back when my parents had a movie date every Friday night.  After he saw this movie, my Daddy gave me a full synopsis, as best he could, laughing all the while.

He was especially tickled by the scene with Bill Murray driving recklessly through the town of Punxsutawney with little Punxsutawney Phil at the wheel.  My memory of him sharing this with me brings a smile to my face.

Favorite # THREE

Today I surprised Wendy with a pint of Halo Top

Having beat the traffic for an early arrival to work this morning, I decided to stop by the store to pick up a treat.  The only flavor in stock was Peanut Butter CupI busted into mine around 3:30 and polished off half of it.

Favorite # FOUR

Today LB surprised me with Concert Tickets

I was minding my own business, muddling through my workday, when I received a message from LB that he had purchased tickets to see:We’re going to see Huey Lewis and the News in April!

My nephew Clay will be SO JEALOUS!

It’s gonna be GOOD!

Favorite # ONE

My Aunt Debbie

Yesterday was her birthday.

She is the youngest of six and my Mama’s “baby sister”.

Mama spent a lot of time looking for a favorite picture that I have of Debbie and myself from back in the day.  Sadly, it has mysteriously disappeared.  Debbie was only 11 years old when I was born.  At the time, she didn’t like me much.  When I was in high school, she was one of my best friends.  I would call her early every morning and she would pray with me before I headed off to school.

Favorite # TWO

Jacksonville Jaguars

Last Sunday the Jaguars delivered a game that even I couldn’t tear myself away from.

Despite playing in a hostile environment amongst fans [and referees] that wanted to see them lose and losing Myles Jack to a leg injury when they needed him most, the home team brought their A game to the AFC Championship.  I was proud of the Jaguars as they played hard against the Patriots last Sunday.  It was such a disappointment to see the outcome was not in their (our) favor.  Hopefully it will happen next season.

Favorite # THREE

Brownies

Since baking is my superpower, I pull out the cape [at least] every other week and bake up a sweet treat using a recipe I’ve found on Pinterest.  Last week I made brownies, but not just any brownies.

I made

Lunch Lady Brownies

You can find them in my Brownies, Blondies and Bars (Oh My) board on Pinterest

Favorite # FOUR

My

New Blouse

You can find it at venus.com

The comment was made that a picture of me wearing this blouse brought my Mema to mind.  My Mema Reid was vibrant, animated, and had a great sense of style.  I wish I had pictures of the great outfits she could pull together.

Favorite # FIVE

My Sweet LB

It’s his birthday today. You can read all about him here.

A 1959 film starring Charleton Heston has been a lifelong favorite.  Never did I imagine that I could appreciate a remake of the movie

Ben-Hur

Judah Ben-Hur, a Jewish prince, is accused of treason, betrayed, and sent into slavery by his adopted brother and friend, Messala, an officer in the Roman army.  When he regains his freedom and comes back to his homeland for revenge, he finds redemption instead.

LB and I went to the Avenue’s Mall this week to return a pair of pants from LOFT.  While I didn’t find anything that I couldn’t live without at LOFT, I found a couple of things that I thought would be fun to take home with me from

Forever21

The sign read $9 but the tag on this little Blue Velvet dress read $5

I made the comment that this top looked like something I would wear over and over again all summer long

And this little peplum top is just my style…But this pimpin’ green fur coat didn’t do it for me…

Is there anything better than FRIDAY?

Only one thing comes close…

CHRISTMAS!

For this edition of Friday Favorites I am combining the two and sharing a few of my Christmas Favorites!

Favorite #ONE

Watching this little girl open wrapped gifts.

Last year she was barely able to open a gift on her own.  This year she would accept a gift and look at it with anticipation.

Before she began to open the gift, she would declare, “I don’t know what it is.”  Then I would tell her “I don’t know what it is either, let’s open it and find out.”

After showing her where to start, she would begin by tearing a small piece of wrapping paper and, rather than throw it aside, she would offer it to me, and then begin again.  I could have participated in this process all day!

It will Never happen this same way again.  Next year, she will be 3 1/2 at Christmas, and she will have a baby sister that she will be concerned about.  She will be different… Life will be different… it is constantly changing.

I know I will remember what a blessing it was to open Christmas gifts with a little girl named Lydia, Glammy’s girl,  who was 2 1/2 years old on Christmas Day 2017.

Favorite # TWO

So glad that Mama is creative!

Never again will I run out of eyeshadow!

Thank you Mama

Favorite # FIVE

…that my sister and I still think alike.

She gave me a pair of blue Kate Spade post earrings…and I gave her a pair of Kate Spade Peridot earrings (her birthday is in August)

She sent me a pic of herself styling those “Kate Spade earrings and Fancy Nancy lipgloss”.

Isn’t she lovely?

I don’t know if I’ve ever been happier to see Friday!

It has been a crazy week!

But as always, there are positives to focus on which brings me to my

FRIDAY FAVORITES!

Favorite # ONE

If it isn’t bad enough that I can’t see anything in my closet anymore, I bought another pair of shoes to add to the pile.  But they’re just as cute as they can be!

Blue Suede Shoes

Kenneth Cole REACTION Women’s Fridah Fly Ankle Bootie in Navy. They also come in 6 other colors. The stacked 3.5 inch heel is unbelievably comfortable.

And I sound like a commercial.

You can check them out for yourself here.

Favorite # TWO

EBATES

My sweet friend Wendy told me that I needed to start using Ebates when I shop online.  I signed up at her suggestion and set the icon on my menu.  So, with nothing to lose, I joined in November and began clicking the Ebates link whenever I shopped at my favorite sites.  I just received my first Ebates check today.

This check was made payable to me for doing nothing other than clicking Ebates when I shop.

Love it!From what I’ve read it seems LEGIT to me…

I’m getting paid to shop (my dream job)!  We can both earn $25 if you join here or if you just want info, check it out for yourself here.

Favorite # THREE

Ms. G’s Jacket

We discuss shopping, MaryKay, shoes, and Brighton jewelry nearly every day.  This particular jacket came from a boutique that I am not familiar with, however, I’m always interested in learning about a new boutique.  Ms. G tells me that she purchased this cute little jacket at a boutique in San Marco… it is called

Bou’Tique 3:16

Ain’t she fancy?!?

Favorite # FOUR

Exciting news today!  I received a text from LB with a picture attached.

The text read:

Delivered!

Yes it is the theater chairs for my TV room!

Favorite # FIVE

Saturday Night was date night and LB had purchased ticket for the production of Holiday Pops featuring the Jacksonville Symphony.
It is hard to believe how much I enjoyed this concert, but I’m still thinking about it!

If you haven’t had the opportunity to enjoy a performance by the Jacksonville Symphony, take time to look into seeing one of their performances.

Bonus Friday Fave…

here is one more look at my Tiny Dancer Angel GlamBaby…

OMG

so Cute!

I hope your weekend is as wonderful as mine is going to be!

FRIDAY FAVORITES

December 1, 2017

Happy December 1st

and

Happy Friday!

It has been a restful week as I enjoyed some time off to spend with my LB.  Aside from a trip to the dentist office and a short case of the stomach flu, this has been a wonderful week.  But whether you work Monday through Friday or have the weekday free, there is something about the weekend that makes everyone smile.

To celebrate the coming of Friday (and December), here are my favorites this week:

Favorite # ONE

This

Furry Vest

from Classy Crossroads.

LB bought it for me on our annual “Celebration of Fall” trip that you can read about here.

I enjoyed wearing it again Thursday night when LB surprised me with…

Favorite # TWO

98°

in concert…

The handsome 90’s boy band is touring and sharing songs from their new Christmas album.I was surprised at how much I enjoyed hearing this group and watching them interact with each other.LB may have been the only man in attendance at the concert, but I was happy to have him there with me.

Favorite # THREE

White House Black Market

This women’s clothing store is quickly becoming my favorite place to shop.

In case you missed my post, here are some of my favorites:

Blush Pullover Sweater  // Embroidered Jeans (somewhat similar) // Floral Top (similar) and Jeans

Burgundy Blouse (similar) // White Blouse (similar) // Ruffle Sleeve Blouse and Jeans

Favorite # FOUR

St. Augustine’s

Nights of Lights

Mentioned in my Tuesday post, this event dazzles the city of St. Augustine as approximately three million lights adorn the Plaza de la Constitucion and other areas of the historic district.  You can see all of LB’s pics and read my post here.

Favorite # FIVE

The

Jacksonville Baldwin Rail Trail

runs 14.5 miles from Imeson Road in Jacksonville to the Town of Baldwin.A 12’ wide paved trail currently exists for hikers, bikers and roller-bladers to enjoy.  An equestrian trail parallels the paved trail (source).   On Wednesday afternoon, LB and I loaded up our bikes and headed to the rail trail.

My suggestion would be to visit on the weekend as there are more people there biking and running.  You may feel a little less paranoid and not have to be packing heat.

(hee hee)

Its a City of Jacksonville favorite that you can read about here.

Favorite # SIX

 A suggestion to

Live Your Best Holiday Life for Less

by The Blended Blog

I will revisit these suggestions throughout the month in an effort to see how many I can check off the list.  I’ve already completed half of #5…

lets see if I can stick to it as I continue my Christmas shopping!

Thank you for taking time out of your day to stop by my blog.

Welcome!

I’m Kim… and I love Pretty clothes, Pretty décor, Pretty days, and Pretty much anything that involves family and fun.  Growing up, My Mama told me more than once “Pretty is as Pretty does” …encouraging me to focus on the inner pretty girl, as she is the one that matters most.

Here on my blog, I’m sharing what I see as pretty.  Whether it be an outfit, an experience, an event, a memory or thought.  Hopefully I’ll share something that will be interesting, useful, or make you smile along the way.
