Shop ‘til You Drop

March 4, 2019

Its time for Monday Linkups with

The Blended Blog

and today TBB Asks ten questions about shopping (my favorite pastime)

Here goes…

1. Top 3 Shops?

LOFT, WHBM, Express. They are continually sending catalogs and coupons, enticing me to spend $.

A recent catalog from WHBM has me wishing for this outfit:

2. Where is the majority of your shopping done – in store or online?

Definitely Online

Busy Cartoon Network GIF

3. What’s your favorite thing to shop for?

Clothes and shoes!

4. What do you just HATE shopping for?Because he does most of the grocery shopping, LB has spoiled me.  I don’t like grocery shopping, but don’t mind it if he is with me.

5. What’s your most favorite thing you’ve ever bought?

My most recent favorite item is this yellow jacket from LOFT

6. Do you prefer shopping alone or with others?

I like to shop with LB.  He has excellent taste!

7. Best Bargain?

My last shopping spree at LOFT Outlet left me feeling like a very savvy shopper.  You can read about that adventure here.

8. Thrift Store Shopping: Yes or No?

No

9. Best cities for shopping?

Most of my shopping is done online, however I will shop at the Town center or Malls in Jacksonville occasionally.  When coming home from a weekend in Daytona, the Tanger Outlet is a good place to shop.

Every year our fall vacation is started with a visit to Classy Crossroads Boutique in Macclenny; that same trip will eventually take us to Highlands, NC where there are several fun shops to visit.

10. Who’s you style or fashion icon?

Stephanieshe has a knack for putting outfits together and can make anything look cute.

TBB Asks: Relationships

February 4, 2019

The Blended Blog “Asks” series is always a fun Q&A.

Today’s TBB Link Up post is about relationships…

1.  Who is your oldest friend; how did you meet?

My sister is the friend that I’ve had since 1970.  No other friend has been mine for that many years.  While she isn’t “old”, she is the friend I can claim to have had the longest.

I love her.

2.  Tell us about your circle of support.  Who are your people?

At home there is LB.  Next door there is Mama.  My extended family gathers together very regularly for dinner.  Kathy and Wendy at work.

3.  How did you meet your partner?

FMBC

sometime in the 70’s

4.  How is Valentine’s Day celebrated in your home?

In my world there are flowers, jewelry, and a night out.

There is always a sweet message.I’m never disappointed.

5.  What is your love language?

According to Gary Chapman (1995), there are five ways we express and experience love (he calls them “love languages“): Gift Giving, Quality Time, Physical Touch, Acts of Service (Devotion), and Words of Affirmation. We all “speak” one of them most fluently in each of our relationships – especially in a marriage (source).

Mine is Words of Affirmation.

My Partner speaks this to me fluently.

6.  Do you prefer receiving flowers or chocolate?

When flowers are delivered to the office for me, I’m completely impressed.

7.  What is the most meaningful gift you have ever received or have given?

Although he was a Christmas gift, I’d have to say that Elvis is my most meaningful gift ever!

My sister calls him a “Mama’s Boy with a high pitched voice”.  To me he is Purrrrfect!

Keep Me Entertained

January 7, 2019

Because TBB ASKS every first Monday of the month, I’m responding with some answers…

~

Book(s) you have read multiple times

This Present Darkness by Frank E. Peretti.  The book is Frank E. Peretti’s first published novel for adults.

I’ve read it three times.  This is a big deal for me.

~

Favorite book/author of all time

This Present Darkness is the story of the town of Ashton which is on the verge of appropriation by a New World Order.  This New Age corporation is planning to unleash its evil plan beginning with the small town.  In the story are two characters who dare to oppose the corporation. Marshall Hogan is the owner of a newspaper and Henry Busche is the pastor of a small church in town.  When both are arrested on false charges they meet in jail.  Each of these men discover that they are not only at odds with the large and powerful corporation, but are also in the midst of great spiritual warfare.  Fighting alongside the protagonists are spiritual beings, Angels who are portrayed as unique individuals with endearing personalities, interact with the story’s physical characters, while battling the demons who attempt to destroy them.

If this book sounds like it is sensational, that’s because it is.

~

Favorite TV show to binge

I used to be addicted to Survivor, but never have I binged on the series.  The only time I have binged on a TV show is while I’m on the treadmill where I will watch recorded episodes of Today with Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb.

yahoo tv GIF

If I tire of Kathie Lee and Hoda, I will watch an episode of The Kitchen.

~

Favorite new-ish TV show

You know… I’m perplexed about what happened with the reboot of DALLAS a couple of years ago.  I began watching it when it began and it is the last series I was interested in.

~

Favorite movie of all time

You’ve Got Mail

~

Movie you are looking forward to watching

Bird Box.

I cannot explain why.

~

First concert you attended

The first real concert I remember attending was at the St. Augustine Amphitheater and the star performer was

Toby Keith

~

Ultimate concert (even if it can’t happen)

The Bee Gees.  At one time it was Barry Manilow.  When I finally saw him I was [sadly] disappointed.

If I could go back in time, I would’ve seen the Bee Gees in concert while I had the chance.  Now I have my mind set on seeing the Backstreet Boys.  I hope we can make that happen.

~

Favorite music artist/band

Well that would have to be Hall and Oates!

~

How do you listen? (streaming? CDs? vinyl?)

Pandora Radio, CD, YouTube, and [of course] “Alexa, play…”

Thank you for taking time out of your day to stop by my blog.

All Things Christmas

December 17, 2018

This Monday’s Linkup with the Blended Blog is

All Things Christmas

covering the topics: Décor, Movies, & Music.

DÉCOR

I mentioned in my Friday Favorites that I am almost finished with my Christmas decorating. Although only half of my Christmas décor is on display, I’ve decided that I AM finished with my Christmas decorating.

~

MOVIES

It is a fact that I have become a Hallmark movie junkie.  When I tune into channel 312, LB will typically ask “have we seen this one?” which lets me know that he isn’t really watching.

So far my favorite Hallmark movie has been Mingle All the Way.

“̔Mingle All the Way is a new networking app designed to pair busy professionals together for upcoming events, without long-term romance. Molly (Jen Lilley), founder of the app, is determined to prove to her family that it is a success. Therefore, she joins the app, and meets another busy professional, Jeff (Brant Daugherty). When Molly and Jeff are matched, they are both horrified to realize they’ve already had not one, but two disastrous previous encounters. Nevertheless, they agree to stay matched for all their respective upcoming holiday engagements. As the pair gets closer, perhaps their business arrangement might turn into something more this holiday season”.

(source)

And it will be airing again tonight at 11PM and Sunday at 4PM.

There are a few other Christmas movies that I enjoy watching:  Elf, A Christmas Story, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, and my favorite…

It’s A Wonderful Life!

~

MUSIC

This one is easy enough:

Me: “Alexa, play Christmas Holiday Favorites”

Alexa: “Here is a station for Christmas Holiday Favorites music “Holiday Favorites” on Amazon music.”

She’s the best!

Although I haven’t listened to a single one this season, I have some great Christmas CDs:

And a favorite from Mama that takes me back to my childhood…

A Christmas music compilation from W.T. Grant Company which was sold at these “25 cent” neighborhood stores as the A Very Merry Christmas record album series (source).

A Very Merry Christmas Volume 3

which included this favorite by Cary Grant.

Christmas Wish List

November 28, 2018

As I read through the various blogs that I follow, I found one that was particularly interesting and gave me an idea for a post of my own.  The Blended Blog is one that I read regularly and also enjoy linking up on their site.  This past Monday’s post was TBB Wish List written by the adorable Andrea Nine.
From what I’ve read, it seems that we all have a leopard print fixation this year.
I was motivated to include a few items from my own Pinterest Wish List and incorporate those items into the post today.
Sing along as you read the following “Christmas Wish List” post to the tune of a song made popular by Mariah Carey:

All I Want For Christmas is You

~
I don’t want a lot for Christmas
There is just one thing I need
I must have these Archway cookies
buy them for me this I plead
I don’t need to hang my stocking
There upon the fireplace
If you’ll give these glasses to me
I will put them on my face
I just want this for my own
More than you could ever know
Make my wish come true
What I want for Christmas
Is shoes
Oh, I won’t ask for much this Christmas
I won’t even wish for snow
And I’m just gonna keep on waiting
for a  jacket, this I know
I won’t make a list and send it
To the North Pole for Saint Nick
I won’t even stay awake to
Hear this little gold watch tick
‘Cause I just want all of this stuff
And I know that its enough
What more can I say?
it’s what I want Christmas day!
~
Yes that was goofy, but I had fun.
And I’m serious about the cookies.

Although it is Mariah Carey who made this song popular, I’ve included a clip from a favorite movie Love Actually featuring Olivia Olson.

Enjoy…

TBB Asks: Giving Thanks Edition

November 7, 2018

The first Monday of the month signifies TBB Asks time.

The Blended Blog is focusing on Giving Thanks and I’m linking up to take part in the Giving Thanks Q&A.  The linkup post was shared by Andrea and can be found here.

The “Thankful Food for Thought” that Andrea shared was especially noteworthy:

and I agree!

Thankful people are Happy people!

Have you ever kept a Gratitude Journal?

I’ve never kept a journal.  However, my blog serves as my journal of family, friends, and the wonderful life that I enjoy.

Hosting Thanksgiving at your house: Yes or No?

One of my newer traditions is hosting my Sunday before Thanksgiving Dinner.  My Mama and kids will meet at my house for a foretaste of the National holiday!

A new family member will be celebrating her first Thanksgiving with us this year!

Favorite food from The Thanksgiving Meal?

Dressing.  Not stuffing. Dressing.

It has been said that if it is stuffed inside the turkey, it should be labeled stuffing; if it is baked as a casserole, then the correct name for it is dressing.  Here in the south, we just call it dressing.

Unless it comes from a box

What one thing in Nature are you most grateful for?

Big Beautiful Colors

Tiny Little Creatures

Pumpkin Pie: Yes or No?

YES!

Traditional Cookbook: Yes or No?

Although I have a LOT of cookbooks, I rarely use them.  Most of my recipe experiments come from Pinterest.

Oven Baked or Deep Fried Turkey?

I love an oven roasted turkey!

Thanksgiving Leftovers: Yes or No?

Absolutely.  Thanksgiving dinner tastes even better the following day!

What is one Household Product you are most grateful for?

All of them!

Are you most grateful for home cooked meals or restaurant meals?

Home cooked meals are the best!Smothered in GRAVY!

Thank you for taking time out of your day to stop by my blog.

Fall 2.0

October 1, 2018

Happy October!

It is that time again!

I meant to post this TBB ASKS yesterday, but instead worked on an assignment.  Have to keep up with that class!

So here are my answers to TBB’s October Fall 2.0.

Favorite Fall Color?

This color.

Apple Cider HOT or COLD?

Hot

I have never tried cold apple cider.

Is that even a thing?

Caramel Apple Yes or No?

They are a big mess, but I might be tempted.

Pumpkin Donut or Apple Cider Donut?

Sadly, I have never tasted a pumpkin donut or an apple cider donut.

But I do recall having an apple fritter from the Pantry Pride bakery when I was a little girl.  THAT was delicious!

Long or Short Cardigan?

Long cardigans are preferred, but I have both styles in my closet

Favorite Football or Fall Party Food?

WINGS!

This post is making me hungry.

Orange or White Pumpkins?

For some reason I gravitate to the orange pumpkin.Orange just feels right.

Hayride or Bonfire?

Bonfire!

Bonfires are fun!  Hayrides not so much.

Favorite Fall Baked Good?

There are so many to choose from!

I would probably have to say that pecan pie bars are my favoriteand always a hit!

You can find the recipe here.

Most Anticipated Fall Activity?

Just like the fall baked goods… so many to choose from!   Football parties with LB, Wayne & Laurie’s Halloween party, the Sunday before Thanksgiving dinner with LB, Mama, and my kids!  All of my kids were born in the fall, so there are birthdays to celebrate.

I love all of our fall traditions!

But I think I will have to say that my fall trip with LB to see the leaves is what is Most Anticipated.

I am so looking forward to taking a road trip, enjoying the scenery, eating out, shopping at boutiques…

and I can’t wait to be off work for several, peaceful, happy days!

Thank you for taking time out of your day to stop by my blog.

Welcome!

I’m Kim… and I love Pretty clothes, Pretty décor, Pretty days, and Pretty much anything that involves family and fun.  Growing up, My Mama told me more than once “Pretty is as Pretty does” …encouraging me to focus on the inner pretty girl, as she is the one that matters most.

Here on my blog, I’m sharing what I see as pretty.  Whether it be an outfit, an experience, an event, a memory or thought.  Hopefully I’ll share something that will be interesting, useful, or make you smile along the way.
